Out-of-state arrests

Arrested out of state? Post bail from Charleston.

When someone you love is in jail hundreds of miles away, you should not have to drive there to help. Robinson arranges transfer bonds across the United States.

How a transfer bond works

A transfer bond connects you, here in the Lowcountry, with a licensed bail agent in the state where the arrest happened. In most cases you complete the paperwork and pay at our North Charleston office, and the local agent posts the bond at the jail there.

  • Tell us the state, county and jail, and the defendant's full name and date of birth
  • We confirm the bond amount and the cost with an agent licensed in that state
  • You sign and pay with us, with no travel
  • The local agent posts the bond and the jail processes the release

Premiums and rules for transfer bonds follow the law of the state where the bond is posted, and the out-of-state agent may add a fee. We tell you the full cost before anything is signed.

Arrested in South Carolina but you live elsewhere?

It works the other way too. Families out of state can call us to post bond at the Al Cannon Detention Center or anywhere in Berkeley or Dorchester County. Our online forms let co-signers start the paperwork from anywhere.

Wherever they are, start here.
